Attending to Archives

During this event, old family Super 8 films made by my Nana Ji were projected using his reel-to-reel projector for a one-time event. Discussions and educational dialogues around diasporic experiences arose. Conversations focused on Birmingham and discourse on changing demographics, social segregation, education and language barriers. Bell hook’s tell us “Honesty and openness is always the foundation of insightful dialogue.” and I wanted this event to be a practice of that and show how archives help us understand our situated experiences, generational journeys and thus find our communities.
